Creating a proposal

Build a complete proposal from customer details through final review.

Select New Proposal from the dashboard to open a blank proposal. The editing form appears beside a live customer preview on larger screens and above it on smaller screens.

1. Complete proposal information

Enter the proposal number, proposal date, customer name, and job-site address. Phone and email support later contact and delivery steps but are not substitutes for the job-site address.

See Customer and project information for every field.

2. Describe the installation

Under Installation scope, check only the work included in this estimate. Use an Other field for specific work not covered by the checklist. Add general customer-facing text under Proposal notes; every nonempty line becomes a separate bullet in the preview.

3. Choose the comparison size

Under Number of options, select one, two, or three:

  • One option starts as Recommended.
  • Two options start as Good and Better.
  • Three options start as Good, Better, and Best.

You can edit those labels to match the conversation.

4. Add equipment details

Open each active option. You can type details directly or paste a supported product page into Product URL and select Import Product. Imported fields stay editable.

Complete the option label, product name, customer price, and the specifications that help the customer compare. Add warranty language and an equipment image only after checking that they belong to the exact system.

5. Check pricing and discounts

Enter the customer-facing Price for each active option. If needed, select Enable discount, provide a label, choose a fixed-dollar or percentage method, and confirm the calculated final total.

The released proposal workflow does not import a retail selling price. Pricing is contractor controlled.

6. Read the live preview

Review the proposal from top to bottom. Empty equipment details and unchecked scope items are omitted automatically, so check that an absent row is truly intentional—not a missed field.

7. Save or finalize

Select Save Draft to keep incomplete work. Select Finalize Proposal only when the customer information, active equipment options, pricing, and review requirements are complete.

If the form highlights required information, correct it and finalize again. See Saving and finalizing for the exact checklist.
